What is it with girls and tatoos???
We always called them tramp stamps.
Yeah Yeah all the equal baloney aside--to dumb ourselves down to fit in---is a sign of "the dopies".
Each woman and 'woman in training" should be encouraged to be her true self first.  Body decor makes statements. Tatoos belong to guys and toughies.

Time heels

Well, Time often does heal.  The incident with the car is far less serious (for the car that is)  the scrapes on the car second door back (passenger side) from the pack on the mans back just rubbed right off and there were no dents.   I told H he had to find the guy and and say he was sorry.  So far we haven't seen he or his company in the neighborhood.

The "car for me thingy" is exhausted.  We are allowed to have silly thoughts now and then.
Too expensive, too selfish, and too impractical.

Now there is a serious effort to recall the Mayor of Lake Wales and we will be in Alaska while the petitions are going about.
The Mayor is a resident of Lake Ashton and he fired the city manager who was very well thought of.  I wish I could be here to help with the recall.  H and I will find a petition to sign though.

Seventy four years

Yesterday was my seventy fourth birthday.
Every youngster made contact.
H and I had lunch in Lakeland at Macaroni Grill.
While driving homeward here in the sub a lawn tech using one of those big blowers backed into our moving car.  We were nearly past him but he had his back to the road and was looking at the lawn.  about midway down the passenger side of the car his back pack scratched along .  He was fine but H jumped out of the car and started yelling at him and showed him where the long scratch on the car was.  H returned to the car all agitated and the guy gave him a business card.  I said, "gee whiz Harry -why don't you ask him if he is alright".  I think H did then but he was still furious.   The rage rises up and I am always surprised.
Anywho H is trying to contact the company today.
Somehow the birthday was a huge disappointment to me.  I know secretly I was just sure that a new little car was going to be in the garage waiting for me. How impractical!!! How frivolous!!!  We don't need two cars.  My mobility is limited and so I hang close to home anyway.
I keep chastising myself for having such a thought.  But a little voice says that I would be more apt to shop and look about if I did have a car.  --
Little voice makes no sense cuz I can use the Enclave anytime I like.
Is it because I have to ask or announce-and every thing is treated "subject to H's approval"????
Thinking too much is much of the problem here.

Ham What Am

Well The Easter 2009 has hopped away--but the large bone in Publix Ham finally met its fate today as H carved up the remains and froze them.   Wahoo Ham sandwiches for lunch.
I plan to make soup-but H just announced he didn't want pea soup-so it will have to be Bean soup.
I love Pea soup.  The love affair began years ago while traveling with my folks in San Francisco.
"Anderson's" was the place and they had wonderful wonderful Pea soup.
Here in our sub I have found Pea soupers and they too have spouses who spike the enjoyment.
Perhaps we should declare a Pea soup luncheon.   Sounds like a sort of springy thing to do.
Ahhhhhhhh a new tradition is born.

Roses

A dozen Red Roses have been showing off in a clear vase on our dining table for several days now.  Yes, the real thing.  H brought the long stemmed beauties to me after one of his shopping forays.
H loves flowers as much as I do and a bouquet from Publix is always on our shopping list.  Usually they are a mixture of wonderful colors.
These roses are perfect and still standing tall.
Love you Harry!!!!!

Tempus Fidgits

H is going to be another year older--Dawn is going to be another year older Time just does not stand still.

Planning the big party for H keeps me busy at night when I can't sleep. I have changed my mind several times now.   What to serve
I do not want to cook. I tire so easily and a big group cook would have me out like a light.

For Hoover Doovers it will be a huge pile of cold shrimp and dipping sauce. Something or other rollups with pita, cheese and cheese and more cheese with crackers.
Since it will be on Ash Wednesday I will have to dream up a way to make fish sandwiches available along with the Crunchy fried Chix from Publix.
I do like the chopped salad from a certain restaurant in Winter Haven.
A tray of roasted vegetables would be nice and fruit with dip would be yummy. Especially a Cool Whip Lite Dip.
Of course the birthday cake. The 80 will be incorporated into the frosting -not flaming on the cake.
I do want to find a Barber shop quartet to come in and seranade us . It would be wonderful to have Jim and his pals play but I fear too costly. It never hurts to ask!!!!!
Which reminds me------"get the e-mail off to Jim"
I will need another four chairs and tables from Manny.
Thank goodness Wendy and Amy and Eric and Gib will be here to help.

Houses

Yesterday H and I went out to get Prime Rib at Winn Dixie in Lake wales. We never got there.
H said," First there is someplace i would like to go". We were approaching the intersection where senior housing is being built. Villas and a tower with apartments.
We spent two and a half hours there and were rather intrigued. the apartment require too much walking to get to.----So that was easy to eliminate. The villas are rather nice but the one I like would cost us about 3 grand a month--with fourteen grand up front. Phew!!!! Everything is included. Utilities, taxes, maintenance. I really wonder if we spend that much here.
We are trying to cut costs. If something happens to one of us the other can at least get along.-------
Looking at things right now I would say when we are gone there will be nothing left. Talk about bail outs------

Frankly I am amazed at the number of folks thinking that it's a good deal. They must have moocho bucks.
The kicker is that should you care to leave or die you get back 80 percent of your original investment. Piffle on that --!!!
We do not plan to make the kids rich. That era is past.

I love our current digs but will always look around.

It is imperative that young folks save their money and spread out their investments.

Va. Tech

Prayers for the folks attending or working at Virginia tech.
Another murder on Campus  is indeed unnerving.
Our Daughter called yesterday before she went to class to alert us.
We saw nothing on TV but the Ledger carried a story today.

Once again foreign students involved.
Just as youngsters on cruise ships are expected to adjust to new digs far away or very different they bring emotional personal baggage, perhaps unresolved, that is sometimes overwhelming. Their coping skills are not well honed and they may not have the emotional safe havens we create around us to go to while we sort things out.
Knee jerk reactions result in thoughtless mayhem.
I submit that we must do a better job of preparing  students for the stand alone days that occur as they do more mature activities.

Smart????

Media folks and those who cover our antics -must think that the human race is pretty dumbed down.
Viewing Dr. Phil and seeing people who apparently got thru kindergarten and learned to tie their shoes (now- a-days that is not a necessity) who make adolescent choices is unnerving.
Women that let abusers abuse under the guise of "I love him" are closer to Neanderthals than they think.
Where are the folks who go thru hard times as children--grow up and don't blame the past for their problems and certainly don't use the past as an excuse for their current lacks.
Dr. P talks about past behavior being a good predictor of future behavior.
Does that mean once a meatball always a meatball.
Self, here likes to learn new things and try on new ideas (which are often time honored in disguise).
Who said there is nothing new under the sun???

80 years

H is celebrating his birthday with a new TV.  It is huge-----dominating the living room.
The big TV which it replaces is apparently going into the bedroom.
So much for no TV in the bedroom.

Aunt Dawn

Actually she is really "wonderful" Aunt Dawn.

A tag that appeared some years back  when Matthew and Daniel and Scott  (grandchildren) were little.
Dawn was their Aunt and she wanted them to always remember her.  The family was scattered about the globe and Being aunty up close and personal wasn't going to happen very often.  Hence the "something to remember me by".

Please explain to me how as a grandparent I am isolated here in Florida while family is in Mich.,Alaska, St Louis, Australia, Virginia, W. Virginia????

It could be worse-we almost bought a house in Arizona.
I recall my parents moving from Mich. to Florida.  As a young married family with kids we could not afford to visit Florida every year.  There were some awful years when i never saw Mom and Dad.  I was very busy so didn't dwell on the matter of not seeing them.   After all what good would fretting about it hve done.  No money is "no money".
Hamburger was 39 cents a pound.
Years later Mom told me how sad she was. After she died her friends in Florida chastised me for not visiting her.  What did they know.
"Judge Not"

merember???

Lo and behold --------does anybody remember Bambi???

Funny the things that pop into your head.  While doing the profile the question was "favorite movie."  I have not liked movies for a long time cuz they are often vile.
The happy memory was of Bambi.

How can it be happy??? I sniffled and weeped and bawled thru it.

Have to change that---I sniffled and wept watching Marley and that is a good movie too.

Tear jerkers shouldn't equate with favorite------  they equate with what yanked my chain.
Favorite------hmmmmmmmmm  how about "Rear Window"?
